About us
The league was created in 2006. with an intention to connect local recreational tennis players looking to play organized tennis regularly. It's an independent league not associated with USTA.
The league has 3 branches (men's/co-ed singles, women's singles and doubles)
We accept players of all levels who are over 18 y/o. The season goes from late April to early October . It's divided in 3 sessions. Players are placed in divisions according to their previous results. New members need to play placement / qualifying rounds so they can be placed accordingly. Sessions are generally 7 weeks long. At the end of each session, top 2 players from each division move a level up and bottom two drop a level down. Majority players are at 3.0 or 3.5, with some above that and some below. Last season the league had around 130 active players competing in 3 leagues (main singles, doubles, and women's).
RTL has a flexible scheduling format. Participants are scheduled to play one match each week. They have 7 days to get in touch with their opponent, arrange when/where they want to play, complete their match and report it to a league organizer by each Monday night. Matches not completed by the deadlines are recorded forfeits or DNP (did not play). Please refer to the rules section of this site for more details.
The league has been successful because of its flexible scheduling system, and player’s dedication to the league and its rules. Players schedule their matches on about 40 public courts with free access.
The league is free to join for players who participated in the past. All new players joining for the first time are required to pay one time registration fee in amount of $30.
The fee structure is amended for 2014 season. In the past years, new players paid their $30 fee in 3 increments ($10 per each session during their initial year, 3 sessions x $10=$30). Starting with this season, the fee is paid in one lump sum amount when players register for the first time.
We get a great feedback from the players each year, and most come back year after year.
We are looking for players who can commit to our schedule and rules. RTL members join the league with a serious intention to play one match each week. They expect new players to be flexible enough to schedule matches consistently, and keep up with the schedule. Players need to have good and timely email or phone communication with each other. We strongly advise new players not to sign up if they are not sure they can follow our schedule, or if they are looking to play occasionally. It is very important to be flexible and available enough during the week. If you are only available one or two days each week it probably won't be enough.
Most matches are played after 5pm during the workweek and any time over the weekends. Players interested in occasional matches can register for casual division. This group has no schedule to follow or deadlines to play.
The signup is always for one session at a time. We have a new signup before each session (each session is 7 weeks long) This web site is our main source of information like rules, schedule, results, standings, player's contact information etc.
Players get in touch by email or phone. We recommend using an email account that you check frequently and that you can check from home.
If you want to join or have additional questions please email us.
